Two people walking in nature — life coaching for forward momentum
Coaching — not therapy

Clarity. Direction. Momentum.

Life coaching at MFI is forward-focused and goal-driven. Unlike therapy, we don't dig into the past — we figure out exactly where you want to go and build the shortest bridge to get there.

Dr. Paula and the MFI coaching team bring therapeutic training to every engagement — meaning you get the insight depth of a clinician with the action-orientation of a top executive coach.

Understand the difference

Is coaching right for you?

Coaching is a great fit when…

  • You are mentally healthy but feeling stuck or directionless
  • You want to strengthen your relationship — not repair a crisis
  • You are navigating a career, life stage, or identity shift
  • You prefer action plans over open-ended exploration
  • You want a partner who holds you accountable

Therapy may be a better fit when…

  • You are experiencing clinical depression, anxiety, or trauma
  • Past experiences feel actively disruptive to daily life
  • A clinical diagnosis is present or suspected
  • Your insurance requires a clinical provider

Our process

How every coaching engagement works

01

Clarify the real goal

Most clients arrive knowing what they don't want. We spend the first sessions uncovering what they actually want — with precision.

02

Map the gap

We identify the specific beliefs, habits, and patterns standing between your current state and your stated goal.

03

Build a weekly system

Each session ends with an action agreement — a specific, time-bound commitment that moves the needle before we meet again.

04

Iterate and deepen

Week over week we review, refine, and go deeper — building lasting change rather than short-term motivation.

Common questions

Answered honestly

How is this different from seeing a therapist at MFI?

Coaching is not a clinical service — we don't diagnose, treat disorders, or bill insurance. It's a structured goal partnership. Therapy explores the why; coaching focuses on the what and the how.

How many sessions will I need?

Most clients complete a coaching engagement in 8–16 sessions. Intensive tracks can deliver meaningful results in as few as 4 sessions. We review progress every 4 sessions and adjust.

Can my partner join sessions?

Yes. The relationship coaching track is designed for couples. Individual and relationship tracks can also be combined based on your goals.

Do you offer virtual coaching?

Yes — all coaching services are available via secure video. We work with clients across the United States and internationally.

Is coaching covered by insurance?

Coaching is not a clinical service and is not covered by insurance. Transparent flat-rate session fees are available on our pricing page.
